A man whose car crashed on an interstate highway in northern New Jersey was killed as he tried to cross the roadway on foot.
State police say the accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. Saturday on a stretch of I-78 in Newark.
The man was driving in an eastbound express lane in Newark when his vehicle crashed and became disabled in the right lane. He got out of the car and was walking across the highway when he was hit by another car.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. His name has not been released.
No other injuries were reported and no charges have been filed. But the investigation into both accidents is ongoing.
