MOULTRIE, GA : Woman seriously hurt in car crash on Tuesday, December, 5th 2017
The Georgia State Patrol reported a Moultrie woman was taken by helicopter from a wreck scene Tuesday afternoon to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
However, the Florida hospital said on Wednesday it did not have a record of Amanda Tyson, who the GSP said was injured in the single-car crash.
Under federal privacy laws, hospitals may have to say they have no record of a patient if that patient has not signed a privacy waiver. That is one possible reason for the discrepancy.
The state patrol said Tyson, 32, was driving a 1998 Ford Escort north on Earnest Norman Road about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday when she ran off the right side of the road. While partly off the roadway, the car struck a sign and then ran into the ditch, the GSP said.
Tyson was not wearing a seat belt, the GSP said.
She was charged with a seat belt violation, failure to maintain lane and DUI (less safe), the state patrol said.
