ANDERSON, IN : Anderson resident dies in single-vehicle crash on I-69 on Monday, December 12, 2016
An Anderson woman died Monday in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 69.
Madison County Sheriff’s Department officials said Linda A. Sidwell, 74, was pronounced dead at the scene near the 217.5 mile marker.
Investigators said evidence from the scene shows Sidwell was northbound on I-69 when she lost control of her 2001 Oldsmobile Silhouette. The evidence shows she drove off the right side of the interstate and overcorrected as she tried to return to the roadway.
“Miss Sidwell drove back off the right side of the interstate at which time her vehicle went end over end eventually striking a roadside sign,” sheriff’s officials said in a prepared statement. The car came to rest on its roof.
Officers were dispatched about 12:30 p.m. to the accident scene. The incident remains under investigation.
