Johnstown, PA : Employee dies after car crashes into Indiana County gas station on Thursday, 5th July 2018

An Indiana County gas station burst into flames after a car crashed into it Thursday afternoon, and an employee who was trapped inside the burning building was killed, officials say.

Melissa Ann Myers, 52, of Commodore, was working at Pikel’s Top Tier Fuels in the village of Home, Indiana County Coroner Jerry L. Overman Jr. said in a press release.

A car traveling north on Route 119 went out of control about 1:30 p.m. Thursday and careened into the gas station’s parking lot, striking two fuel pumps and the front of the business, the press release said.

“The vehicle and structure burst into flames, causing Ms. Myers to become entrapped in the structure,” Overman said.
