Salt Lake City, UT : Woman dies in car crash on Interstate 15 just south of Beaver on Saturday morning, March 26, 2016

A woman heading to her mother's funeral died in a car crash in southern Utah, authorities said.

A man driving a pickup truck Saturday morning on Interstate 15 just south of Beaver, Utah, lost control of the vehicle, which rolled several times, Utah Highway Patrol officials said.

Danielle Vale, 48, of Mesquite was ejected from the front passenger seat and pronounced dead at the scene.

Utah Highway Patrol officials said a 28-year-old woman also in the car is in serious condition. The 48-year-old driver was taken to a hospital, but his condition is unknown.

Vale, who was going to Salt Lake City for the funeral, was carrying her mother's ashes, police said. Troopers are trying to recover the ashes at the crash site.

Neither woman was wearing a seat belt, authorities said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
