Arkansas State Police say a Florida woman was killed when she fell out of a semitrailer and was run over by the vehicle's trailer on Interstate 40 in western Arkansas.

State police say the incident happened early Tuesday on I-40 in Crawford County. According to a preliminary report, 55-year-old Karol Sheffield of Port Orange, Florida, was trying to secure a door when she fell from the truck and was run over by the trailer.

State police say Sheffield was a passenger in the truck.

The report says an investigation into the death is underway.
