Taunton man from fiery Route 79 crash in Fall River inches closer to trial date

Charges against Luis Cotto inched closer to trial Tuesday in District Court. Cotto, 42, of Taunton, is charged with operating under the influence of liquor and leaving his lane of travel. Police allege he was driving a long-haul truck without a trailer on Route 79 southbound at 6 a.m. on Feb. 19 when the truck hit barriers at the side of the road and caught fire.
