Annapolis,IL : Cause of fatal crash under investigation on September, Wednesday 13th 2017

Kankakee County Chief Deputy Coroner Eric Cavender said he will await toxicology results before determining the cause of death of Richard Probst, of Buckingham.

The 47-year-old Probst died after his 1997 Chrysler Sebring crashed on Illinois Route 115 at 14900W Road west of Herscher on Wednesday.


According to State Police District 21 at Ashkum, Probst's car was headed west on Route 115 when he crossed over into the eastbound lane and off the road, hit a culvert, went airborne and rolled several times before coming to rest in a ditch.

State police said he was not wearing a seat belt. He still was inside the vehicle.

A passerby spotted the wreckage and called 911 at 4:09 a.m. Probst was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:03 a.m.
