Fernley, NV : 23-year-old motorcyclist dies in Fernley crash on Friday night, August 1, 2014
The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a 23-year-old motorcyclist who crashed in Fernley Friday night while trying to flee Churchill County sheriff's deputies.
The patrol identified the victim Monday as Gregory Vasquez of Fernley.
Investigators say a sheriff's deputy began pursuing Vasquez on his black 2004 Honda after he saw him commit a traffic violation. They say he failed to negotiate a right hand turn on New River Parkway, struck a roadside curb and hit a tree around 9-00 p.m. Friday.
He was transported to Banner Churchill Community Hospital where he later was pronounced dead.
