Boonville, NY : Two people are dead after a motorcycle and a car collided on August 26th 2014.
Police say two people are dead after a motorcycle and a car collided head-on on a rural central New York road shortly after a deputy tried to pull the bike over for speeding.
The Oneida County Sheriff's Office tells local media 20-year-old Mitchell Mashaw of Port Leyden was riding a 2008 Honda motorcycle north on Route 12 in Boonville at high speed when a sheriff's deputy saw him. When the deputy tried to pull him over, police say Mashaw sped off, passing several vehicles on the left and right. Shortly afterward, the deputy saw smoke rise over a hillcrest.
Police say the motorcycle had crashed into a car driven by 78-year-old Thomas Grower of Forestport. Both vehicles caught fire.
