Portland, TN : Bicyclist struck, killed by car on Highway 31 in Sumner County on Tuesday, Sep 8, 2015

A woman was hit and killed while riding her bicycle in Sumner County on Tuesday.

Police said a man was driving on Highway 31 West around 6 p.m. when he hit Beverly Jo Sloan’s bike.

Sloan was transported to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police have identified the driver of the vehicle that hit her as a 65-year-old man, but no charges have been filed at this time. The investigation is still ongoing.
