Carpentersville, Illinois
A 72-year-old man died April 14 following a single-car accident in Campton Hills, according to a police department press release.
The crash happened at 8:54 p.m., when a 2004 Honda van traveling west on Silver Glen Road west of Brierwood Drive left the road, hitting a road sign and a tree before ending up in a ditch, the release states.
The driver, Stephen Bushy of Carpentersville, was unconscious when Campton Hills police arrived, the release states. It indicated responders from the Fox River and Countryside Fire/Rescue District took him to Delnor Hospital in Geneva, where he was pronounced dead.
Injuries from the accident apparently did not cause his death, according to the release.
"Bushy’s family advised that Bushy recently has had some medical issues, which could [have] been a precipitating factor in the crash," the release states, noting an autopsy was planned April 15.
The release indicated members of Bushy's family were following his vehicle and witnessed the crash.
