PROVIDENCE, RI : Motorcyclist, 56, critical after crash with car in Providence on June, Tuesday 27th 2017

A man, 56, was critically injured in a collision between a motorcycle and another vehicle at Elmwood Avenue and Peace Street around 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Providence Police Lt. Roger Aspinall said the man was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition and is expected to survive.

Accident reconstruction required part of Elmwood Avenue to be closed until about 8:30 p.m., Aspinall said.

The motorcycle, southbound on Elmwood, was apparently passing a car that was stopping for a red light at Peace. The motorcyclist was unable to brake in time to avoid a collision with a vehicle on Peace crossing with the green light.

Aspinall said the investigation was continuing. He said police would not release the name until the victim’s family was reached.
