One person was injured in a crash involving a school bus in Butler County Wednesday afternoon.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports the crash took place about 4:20 p.m. in the 2600 block of South West 100th near Haverhill Road.

KHP says a Bluestem School District school bus was westbound on South West 100th when it slowed to make a stop. A 2008 Dodge Avenger was also westbound behind the bus and struck it from behind.

An eight-year-old girl riding in the school bus suffered a possible injury and was taken to Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado. Twenty-one students and the driver were on the bus at the time of the crash, said Bluestem School District Superintendent Joel Lovesee.

The 40-year-old Augusta man who was driving the Avenger was not hurt.

Another bus was sent to the crash scene to transfer the remaining students from the wrecked bus.
