Lee County, FL :Man, 84, dies in Alico crash near Gulf Coast Town Center on Tuesday, July 14th 2015

An 84-year-old man died in a Tuesday morning crash involving an SUV and a dump truck on Alico Road.The T-bone crash happened about 10:25 a.m. when William Schosek tried to make a U-turn in his Ford Escape about a half mile east of the intersection where Alico Road meets Ben Hill Griffin Parkway.The Ford Escape was heading east on Alico Road in front of the dump truck when Schosek started the U-turn.The 40-year-old dump truck driver "attempted to take evasive action" to avoid the Escape but ended up colliding with the driver side of the SUV, killing Schosek, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.The North Fort Myers resident is the 57th person to die on Lee County roads in 2015."It's unforgiving if you make a mistake," said FHP spokesman Lt. Greg Bueno of traffic maneuvers like U-turns.
