FORT WALTON BEACH, FL : Lawmen identify motorcyclist killed in MLK wreck on Tuesday, February 21st 2017

A motorcyclist was killed in an accident Tuesday morning at the corner of Comanche Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The motorcyclist was identified in a press release as 33-year-old Jeffrey Shaffer of Mary Esther.

FHP Lt. Eddie Elmore said his agency received a call at 9:38 a.m. and arrived at the scene shortly after. According to the press release, 70-year-old Johannes Korver of Fort Walton Beach was driving a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup truck when he turned left from Comanche into the path of Shaffer' 2007 Honda that was eastbound in the outside lane of Martin Luther King.

Shaffer hit the left side of the pickup truck and was thrown from the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the FHP.

Shaffer was not wearing a helmet, the FHP said.
