Gadsden,AL : Woman retired from Marshall County Sheriff’s Office killed in Albertville crash on May, Wednesday 2nd 2018

A woman killed in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 431 North Wednesday morning was a retiree from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, according to Albertville Police Chief Jamie Smith.

Ruth Lanell Spann, 76, of Union Grove, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at about 9 a.m. near Gilbert and Baugh Ford. Witnesses told police the vehicle veered off the right-hand side of the roadway while traveling southbound, hit an embankment and overturned.

The wreck is under investigation.
