Clark County, Ohio : Woman killed in a chain-reaction crash in Mad River Township Sunday, July 19th, 2015
Troopers from the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol have identified the woman killed in a chain-reaction crash in Mad River Township Sunday.
According to a release, a car driven by Jean McCarthy, 80, of Fairborn rear-ended another car driven by Dian Shackelford of Enon around 8:15 p.m. on Dayton Springfield Road. Troopers say McCarthy’s vehicle continued moving after the crash, went left of center, and was hit by a vehicle traveling north by Randal Smith, 52, of Springfield. Smith’s vehicle was then hit by an SUV driven by Mark Mills Jr., 24, of Urbana.
McCarthy was pronounced dead at the scene.
Smith and his passenger, identified as Theresa Smith, 41, of Springfield were transported to Miami Valley Hospital with injuries and both are listed in critical condition.
Shackelford suffered non-life threatening injuries and was also transported to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment.
Mills refused any medical treatment.
Multiple jurisdictions responded to the crash including the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Green County Sheriff’s Office, Fairborn Police, and medics from Mad River and Bethel townships.
The crash remains under investigation by the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The multiple-vehicle crash that killed one person and send three others to local hospitals involved four vehicles, the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Springfield Post said.
Troopers remain on scene investigating the crash that happened around 8:20 p.m. along Dayton-Springfield Road in Clark County.

One person was killed tonight in a multiple-car crash on Dayton-Springfield Road between Enon and Fairborn in Clark County.
Three other people were taken to area hospitals. A man driving a Jeep was not injured, but said he was too shaken to speak to a reporter about the crash.
FIRST REPORT
Crews from Greene and Clark counties are responding tonight to a report of a multi-vehicle crash with injuries.
According to initial reports, there are six vehicles involved with two people possibly trapped in the crash reported just before 8:20 p.m. at Black Lane and Dayton-Springfield Road (state Route 444) east of Interstate 675.
