One person was killed in a crash involving a moped and a car Monday afternoon in Alfred, according to Maine State Police.
Troopers say 81-year-old Russel Saxon was riding a moped southbound along Waterboro Road when he was hit by car turning left into an ice cream stand.
The crash was reported at the intersection of Route 202 and Gore Road.
Police said the driver of the car was following a large box truck and turned left after the truck passed. The driver did not see the scooter, police said.
Saxon was killed in the accident. The two people in the other vehicle were not injured.
The crash is under investigation.
