Pelham,NH : : Alleged drunk driver causes Pelham crash, knocks out power on December, Wednesday 13th 2017
A Milford man was arrested on charges he struck a utility pole on Dutton Road while driving drunk on Wednesday afternoon, forcing a portion of the roadway to be closed and knocking out power in the area.
Christopher Gaidmore, 46, allegedly drove a 2015 Jeep Wrangler into a pole in the area of 9 Dutton Road, causing the pole and wires to fall into the roadway, according to a press release from the Pelham Police Department.
Gaidmore, charged with driving under the influence and operating after suspension, was transported to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center for treatment then released into police custody.
When police and firefighters arrived on the scene of the crash around 2:55 p.m., they found wires from the downed utility pole on top of the Jeep driven by Gaidmore, as well as two other vehicles that had been traveling on Dutton Road.
Felipe Figueiredo, of Pelham, was able to free himself from his 2008 Dodge pickup truck, the release states. Gaidmore and Nicki Darisse, also of Pelham and driving a 2013 Dodge Caravan, were unable to get out of their vehicles due to the downed wires.
Pelham firefighters successfully freed the occupants preventing any further injury, according to the release.
Dutton Road is closed between Atwood and Clark Circle and is expected to remain closed into the overnight hours, police stated. Utility companies are on scene working to clear the road and restore power to the area.
