Four people were injured in a crash at the intersection of SR-776 and David Boulevard in Port Charlotte Friday morning.

The crash happened at around 8:30 a.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a van attempting to turn onto SR-776 drove into the path of a small blue car that was heading west on the road.

A 23-year-old Port Charlotte woman, who was seriously injured during the crash, was driving the car.

Two children, ages 1 and 2, who were also in the car, suffered minor injuries. Both were properly strapped in their car seats, according to Charlotte County deputies.

The driver of the van, 38-year-old Ferenc Szoke, of Port Charlotte, received minor injuries during the crash. He is charged with violation of right of way.

The 23-year-old woman, only listed in the crash report as "Shelley," is charged with driving with a suspended license.

Charlotte County Sheriff's Office also said the photos of the crash, and the fact the children suffered only minor injuries, should serve as a reminder to everyone about the importance of the proper use of car seats.
