SOUTH PORTLAND, ME : An 11-year-old boy suffered life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a car on May, Wednesday, 24th 2017

An 11-year-old boy suffered life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a car while riding his skateboard in South Portland on Wednesday.

According to police, the boy was riding down a side street when he skated into traffic at the intersection of Elm and Palmer Streets.

The driver had no time to react and is not facing charges at this time, police said. The driver is cooperating with investigators.

Other neighborhood children saw the crash, investigators said.

The incident remains under investigation while police reconstruct the crash.
