Two people and a dog died Friday after a crash between a pickup truck and a sport-utility vehicle in Clay County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
A Ford F-150 was southbound on U.S. 17 just south of County Road 220 when the driver hit a stop sign and went through the median into the northbound lanes, said Sgt. Dylan Bryan.
The F-150 collided with a Lexus SUV just before 3 p.m., causing both vehicles to flip, Bryan said.
The driver of the pickup truck and a passenger in the Lexus both died at the scene, Bryan said.
A dachshund that was inside the Ford also died in the crash.
The driver of the SUV and another passenger were transported to hospitals and the passenger was listed in critical condition
