Inverness, FL : Two men injured after a car crash near the entrance to the Roger Weaver Educational Complex on Wednesday, April 20, 2016

Two women were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries Wednesday after a morning car crash near the entrance to the Roger Weaver Educational Complex.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at approximately 7:48 a.m., Mary Virginia Razzano, 84 of Lecanto, was eastbound on West Kevin Lane in a 2005 Hyundai Tucson approaching the junction with County Road 491 at the same time that Julie Ann Russell, 52 of Beverly Hills, was approaching Kevin Lane in the southbound inside lane of C.R. 491.

A third driver, seeing Razzano, came to a stop in the outside lane of C.R. 491 to allow Razzano to make a left-hand turn onto northbound C.R. 491. There is no traffic light at the junction, and the only stop sign is on Kevin Lane.

Razzano drove through the stop sign as Russell was traveling in her path at speed. The stopped driver reportedly yelled in an effort to get Russell to stop, but Razzano’s vehicle collided head-on with the right side of Russell’s 2012 Dodge Avenger.

Razzano and Russell, who were both wearing seatbelts, suffered nonincapacitating injuries and appeared normal after the crash, according to FHP. Nature Coast EMS transported them to Citrus Memorial Hospital.
