HOUSTON, TX : Child killed after being hit by car in northwest Houston on Saturday, 3rd February 2024

A child was killed after being hit by a car in northwest Houston, according to police.

The Houston Police Department said the crash happened at about 8:41 p.m. on Saturday at 5601 North Shepherd Drive.

Investigators said the child, who was about 10 to 15 years old, was walking from the east side of Shepherd Drive to a store on the west side.

The child made it through the northbound lanes but was struck by a vehicle when he got into the southbound lanes of Shepherd Drive.

Investigators said the driver had a green light, and the child wasn't walking in a crosswalk.

First responders pronounced the child dead at the scene.
