Great Barrington, Massachusetts
A Housatonic woman is dead and a New York City man will be charged after a two-car head-on crash over the weekend.
Great Barrington police say Annemarie Bushka, 64, was killed after 68-year-old Robert Bacigalupi apparently crossed the center line on Maple Avenue (Route 23) near the Newsboy statue and slammed into Bushka's vehicle.
The collision occurred around 11 a.m. Saturday and temporarily closed a portion of the road to allow the cars to be towed from the scene. Police say Bushka was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bacigalupi was taken to Berkshire Medical Center with what was believed to be non-life-threatening injuries; his condition was unknown as of Sunday night.
While the crash remains under investigation, Great Barrington police will be charging Bacigalupi with motor vehicle homicide and failure to stay within marked lanes. He will be issued a summons to appear in court at a later date.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call the Great Barrington Police Department at 413-528-0306.
