ORANGE COUNTY, FL : 2 men killed, 1 seriously injured when struck by car after accident on SR 50 on Thursday, 14th March 2019

Three men were standing by their car in the eastbound lanes of State Road 50 after a crash when another car stuck the trio killing two of them and seriously injuring the other Thursday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said the car with the three men inside crashed into the treeline off the side of State Road 50 in Christmas and was pulled back onto the roadway by a passing driver after 1 a.m. Thursday.The three men were standing outside the car in the roadway when a Dodge van approached. The driver of the van told troopers he could not see the car or the men in the roadway. The driver said he swerved to avoid them, but hit the right rear side of the car and all three of the men.Troopers said one of the men died at the scene and the other died after being transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center. The third man, a 21-year-old from Winter Park, is at ORMC with serious injuries.

The crash shut down the eastbound lanes of State Road 50 for five hours Thursday morning as investigation into the crash continued. It reopened just before 6:30 a.m.

Troopers said the investigation is still active.
