Dallas, TX : Overnight crash closes part of High 5 interchange on Wednesday night June 25th 2014
A crash on part of the Dallas High 5 interchange has caused traffic backups for hours.
Police say around 8 p.m. Wednesday, a semi truck hauling a 150,000-pound cement barricade flipped over. The driver walked away, but left behind a challenging cleanup for road crews.
Overnight crews used a jackhammer to break up the barricade into smaller pieces. Then crews had to cut through a rebar skeleton.
All of those pieces were then loaded into trucks and hauled away.
Meanwhile drivers heading north from Interstate 635 were asked to avoid the area entirely to avoid a long delay.
While one lane did open around 7:30 a.m., it didn't do much to ease the congestion.
Traffic heading north onto U.S. 75 from I-635 dragged for the majority of the morning.
