Phelps, NY : Upstate New York man died in a one-car crash in Ontario County on Sunday, March 13, 2016

Authorities say an upstate New York man has died in a one-car crash.

It happened around 9:15 p.m. Sunday when a car was driving at what sheriff's deputies say was an excessive rate of speed. The car lost control and hit a utility pole in Phelps.

Authorities didn't immediately identify the Ontario County man.

Crews are trying to restore electricity to residents in the area.
