A 14-year-old player on Central Bucks West High School's freshman football team died from injuries after being hit by a car while skateboarding late Saturday.
The victim, identified as Steven Kim, was a quarterback on the football team. He was a 9th grader at Lenape Middle School, which plays football with Central Bucks West. His dad, also named Steven, is a football coach at Lenape Middle School.
"The entire program is in mourning right now," said Chas Cathers, Central Bucks West's head football coach. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Kim family. We're going to do whatever we can as a team to help them get through this."
The incident was reported to Bucks County 911 dispatchers at 11 p.m., Saturday.
Police said the boy was struck by a sedan at South Easton Road and Turk Road before the Rte 611 bypass in Doylestown Township.
Doylestown Police Sgt. Mark Wetmore said late Sunday he had no further details and that the accident was being investigated by the Bucks County Accident Reconstruction Team - as is the case with all accident fatalities.
