Yakima, WA : Yakima woman injured in I-82 crash on Friday, January 6th 2017

A Yakima woman was injured in a single-vehicle crash late Friday afternoon on Interstate 82.

Sharon L. Smith, 77, was driving a 2014 Lexus RX eastbound at about 5 p.m., 11 miles north of Yakima when the vehicle drifted to the left, according to a Washington State Patrol news release. Smith overcorrected, causing the Lexus to leave the roadway, the release stated.

Smith was taken to Virginia Mason Memorial hospital in Yakima with undisclosed injuries. A nursing supervisor said Saturday afternoon that Smith had been transferred to an unspecified medical facility; no further information was available.

Drugs or alcohol were not involved and Smith, who was wearing a seat belt, was cited for improper lane change, the release stated.
