Colorado Springs,CO : Pedestrian struck, killed in crash north of Boulder on December, Friday 8th 2017

A pedestrian was struck and killed on Friday night in unincorporated Boulder County north of Boulder.

Colorado State Trooper Gary Cutler said the driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian has been taken into custody because alcohol is suspected as a factor in the crash. Cutler did not have specific information on what charges the driver might face.

The crash occurred shortly after 7:45 p.m. near the intersection of 28th Street and 26th Street. Police shut down 28th Street in between Violet Avenue and Jay Road as they investigated.

The Boulder County Sheriff's Office tweeted that alternate routes are advised, and vehicle traffic was spreading out into the residential area south of 28th Street.

Per police radio traffic, the Boulder County Coroner's Office has responded to the scene along with victims advocates. No information regarding the identities of the person killed or the driver who was taken into police custody was available on Friday night.

The incident on Friday evening marks the second time in less than a week that a pedestrian has been struck and killed by a vehicle in Boulder County. On Dec. 2, a man was hit and killed by a car as he was walking on U.S. 36 near Lefthand Canyon Drive.
