Juneau, AK : Woman dies in rollover crash on Glenn Highway on Sunday, October, 15th 2017
A 35-year-old Anchorage woman was killed Sunday morning in a rollover crash on the Glenn Highway north of Anchorage, the Alaska State Troopers said.
Troopers were called to a wreck at Mile 31.5 of the Glenn Highway at 11:26 a.m. and found that a 2007 Ford Escape driven by Faith Igkurak of Anchorage had left the roadway and went out of control, rolling three times.
Igkurak was ejected from the vehicle, troopers said. She was taken to Mat-Su Regional Hospital by helicopter, where she was pronounced dead.
Igkurak’s next of kin has been notified, troopers said.
The circumstances of the crash are still under investigation, according to troopers. It wasn’t clear whether reported icy conditions on the bridge had played a part in the accident.
There had been six accidents on the Mat-Su’s heavily traveled river bridges since Saturday morning, said Ken Barkley, deputy director of fire and rescue for the borough. Peters said witnesses to the rollover crash said conditions weren’t icy at the time.
