Arnold Brown, Joyce Alexander killed in Camp Springs car accident
Allentown (Town), Georgia
Two people were killed Wednesday in a fiery three-car accident near Joint Base Andrews, police say.
The crash happened just after noon in the 6800 block of Allentown Road in Camp Springs, Prince George's County Police officials say.Investigators say 47-year-old Arnold Brown of Suitland was traveling westbound on Allentown Road when he lost control of his Mitsubishi and hit a Honda that was also heading west. Brown then crossed the double yellow lines, crashing head on into 65-year-old Joyce Alexander of Temple Hills, who was driving a Toyota. One of the cars involved in the crash caught fire, as well.
Brown was pronounced dead at the scene while Alexander was extracted from her vehicle and taken to the hospital in critical condition. She later died from her injuries. The driver of the Honda is okay.
Police officials say that they're looking into speed as a possible factor in the crash.
Clinton Copeland added, "The only thing I'm going to say at this point is people need to make sure that they slow down."
Neighbors couldn't agree more. They've seen their fair share of cars speed through the section of Allentown Road.
Camp Springs resident Gail Clark said, "They fly down here like 70 miles an hour, and it's like a 30, 35 zone. It's terrible."
