Spartanburg, South Carolina
One man was killed and five people were hurt after a series of crashes on Interstate 26, which led to charges for an Inman-area man.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol told local news sources that 40-year-old Scott Simpson of 2136 Dickson Road, which is between Inman and Lake Bowen, is charged with driving under the influence, driving under suspension and leaving the scene of an accident.
The Highway Patrol said Simpson’s car hit the rear of a car driven by 80-year-old Donald Ray Bain of Spartanburg Thursday night, forcing him into the median.
While checking the damage, Bain was hit by a car and knocked into the road. The driver and his four passengers were hurt when they hit Bain’s car.
A second vehicle hit Bain’s body while it was lying in the road. That car left the scene.
