Lakewood, OH : Driver extricated from vehicle after traveling at high speed, dies at hospital on Monday night, January 19, 2015

One man is dead after his vehicle struck a telephone pole and several parking meters in Lakewood Monday night.

According to Lakewood police, the vehicle was seen traveling more than 80 mph when it crashed on Detroit Avenue near Marlowe Avenue, shortly before 11 p.m.

The driver, a 41-year-old man, was sent to the MetroHealth Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

His identity is being withheld pending the notification of the family.

The crash remains under investigation.
