Sacramento, CA : A man was seriously hurt after he drove off Interstate 5 and crashed his truck on April, Wednesday 26th 2017
A man was seriously hurt after he drove off Interstate 5 and crashed his truck on a stretch of train tracks along Oceanside Boulevard Wednesday night.
The collision disrupted Sprinter train service for several hours.
The pickup driver was traveling northbound on I-5 when, for unknown reasons, he veered off an embankment along the freeway about 7:30 p.m. The 2003 GMC Sierra continued across the train tracks below, along Oceanside Boulevard, and crashed into a concrete wall, the California Highway Patrol said.
The driver, a 41-year-old man, of Vista, suffered major injuries, the CHP said. He was taken by ambulance to the Oceanside airport, then airlifted to a hospital.
CHP officials said he was not suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Train service was disrupted until at least 8:30 p.m. while authorities investigated the collision and removed the truck from the tracks.
