A pedestrian hit by a car in the west valley Wednesday has died.
Metro Police responded to the crash just before 5 p.m. at Jones Boulevard near Vegas Drive.
Police said the male pedestrian, 63, was walking west across Jones north of Carmen Boulevard outside of a marked crosswalk when he was hit.
A 22-year-old woman driving a 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser was traveling northbound on Jones when she tried to avoid the man, but her swerving car struck him. The man was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Chrysler remained at the scene. This is the 30th traffic-related death in Metro's jurisdiction this year.
