Lansing, MI : A crash involving a drunk driver on Wednesday, August 16, 2017
A crash involving a drunk driver and a horse-drawn buggy sent two Michigan residents to a hospital Wednesday night, police said.
Steuben County officers arrived at the crash on Ray Road south of County Road 750 North and found all four occupants of the buggy had been thrown from the buggy, the sheriff's office said.
A witness told police that the driver of the car, Brady Duvendack, 22, of Fremont, was driving north on Ray Road when he hit the buggy also going north on Ray Road around 9:26 p.m.
Benjamin Schmucker, 13, of Montgomery Michigan, suffered multiple injuries and was flown by Samaritan helicopter to a hospital.
Reuben Schmucker, 22, of Montgomery Michigan, was taken by ambulance to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
The other two occupants of the buggy, Noah Schmucker, 18 and Jonathon Schmucker, 23, also of Montgomery Michigan were treated and released at the scene.
Duvendack was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury.
The crash is under investigation.
