LAWRENCE, IN : Woman, 87, dies in collision involving police squad car on Monday, November 14th 2016
An 87-year-old woman has died after the vehicle she was riding in collided with a police squad car in central Indiana.
Lawrence Police Department Deputy Chief Gary Woodruff says the squad car was headed to a reported shoplifting in progress when it struck the passenger side of the other car at an intersection Monday afternoon.
Woodruff says the 86-year-old driver of the other car is hospitalized in serious condition with a leg injury. Woodruff says the officer driving the squad car suffered a minor injury, and a police dog also riding in the squad car appeared uninjured.
The names of the individuals involved in the crash were not immediately released.
Lawrence is an enclave on the northeast side of Indianapolis.
