Monett, MO : Dalton Heseman, 14, killed in ATV wreck in Verona on Friday, October 21, 2016

A Monett teenager was killed Friday in an ATV wreck at 5 p.m. at 234 N. 1st St. in Verona.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Dalton Heseman, 14, of Monett, was riding a 2015 Polaris Ranger ATV northbound when the vehicle overturned.

Heseman was transported to Mercy Hospital in Aurora and was pronounced dead by Dr. Benjamin Leavitt at 6:41 p.m. Heseman was not wearing a safety device.

Verona Police, Verona first responders and Mercy paramedics assisted the Highway Patrol at the scene.

This is the 91st fatality of 2016 for Troop D of the Highway Patrol, which covers 18 counties in southwest Missouri, including Barry and Lawrence.
