A Midland man was killed Monday at the same curve on U.S. 283 in Baylor County where an elderly woman was stranded two days after she wrecked her car.The Baylor County dispatcher was notified by OnStar, an emergency notification system aboard some vehicles, that a wreck had occurred about 3:30 p.m. on the highway.Baylor County and Seymour law enforcement and EMS and Seymour Volunteer Fire Department went to the scene and discovered a car that had gone off the road had burned. Killed in the crash was Paul Stephen McKeller, 68.The speed limit on that stretch of the highway is 70 mph, but becomes 50 mph as it approaches the curve. The curve has been the scene of three accidents within the past month.On June 26, a 75-year-old woman from Brownwood failed to make the curve and ran off the road. When she didn’t arrive at her destination in Oklahoma began searcher for her and found her near her overturned vehicle in a ravine near the curve. She had suffered severe back injuries and survived for two days on sodas and water draining from her car.Then early June 23, emergency crews were sent to the same location where a pickup had run off the highway and rolled after the driver apparently failed to negotiate the curve. The driver left the scene of the accident.
