Asheville, NC : No charges expected after impaired pedestrian struck and killed by car in Asheville on Friday, October 17, 2014

Authorities say charges likely won't be filed after an impaired man walked into an Asheville street and was hit and killed by a car. Police told local media outlets that the driver tried to swerve around 10:45 p.m. Friday, but was unable to see 55-year-old Ricky Coward until right before he was hit. Investigators didn't say how Coward was impaired. He died at the hospital a short time after he was hit. Police are investigating the wreck, but say they don't expect to file charges.
