Esterwood, LA : Two killed in fiery car crash on I-10 near Estherwood Wednesday on 9, 2014

State police have reopened Interstate 10 near the Estherwood after being closed for nearly seven hour following a fiery head-on collision between two 18 wheelers. Troopers say both drivers died in the crash.

The accident happened just before 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Master Trooper Brooks David said an 18 wheeler traveling west on I-10 crossed the median and hit another 18 wheeler in a head-on collision in the eastbound lanes. After impact, David said both vehicles caught fire with one coming to rest across the eastbound lanes of I-10 and the other off the right side of the roadway.

The crash remains under investigation.

David said authorities have not identified the victims.
