Emporia, KS : One injured in Peter Pan Park accident on Thursday, January, 4th 2018
The Emporia Police Department is investigating a crash which sent one person to the hospital late Wednesday night.
Emporia Police Sergeant Lisa Sage said officers were called to Newman Regional Health at 1:30 a.m. Thursday morning for the report of a patient who had been involved in a motor vehicle accident. After the initial investigation, officers determined 20-year-old Jessica Zepeda of Emporia had been involved in an accident "in a park somewhere in Emporia" at around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night.
"Zepeda walked home after the accident and a family member took her to Newman Regional because she had neck pain and bruising on her arm," Sage said.
The Emporia Police Department located the vehicle Zepeda had been driving — a Chevy passenger car — near the peninsula at the Peter Pan Park Pond.
