A motorcycle rider suffered serious injuries after a collision Friday afternoon with an SUV driver suspected of drunk driving, Colorado Springs police said.
Patrick Hyland was arrested in the crash on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, police said.
Police said the rider was struck by an Oldsmobile Bravada at the intersection of Van Buren Street and Lark Drive. The crash was reported about 5:45 p.m., police said.
The rider, whose injuries were not life-threatening, was taken to a hospital, police said.
The department's Major Accident Unit continued to investigate the crash Friday night.
