Newnan, GA : Two-car accident ties up rush hour in downtown Newnan on Wednesday, August 2, 2017
A two-car accident temporarily closed traffic in downtown Newnan during rush hour Wednesday afternoon.
The accident occurred just after 5 p.m. when a red Nissan Altima traveling west on Clark Street allegedly ran a red light and struck a black Chevrolet Avalanche traveling south on Jackson Street, according to Officer Van Meadows with the Newnan Police Department.Witnesses on the scene confirmed the driver of the truck was struck while his light was green, Meadows said. All parties involved escaped with very minor injuries and all declined medical treatment.
The driver of the Altima was cited with running a red light. Jackson Street was temporarily closed during the investigation.
