Gilroy, CA : 21-year-old woman dies in Highway 101 crash on Thursday, July 21, 2016

A 21-year-old Gilroy woman died Thursday after she crashed on Highway 101 at the Highway 156 interchange.

The San Benito County Sheriff’s Office identified the driver as Cenobia Felix Gutierrez.

California Highway Patrol officers said Gutierrez was driving a 1997 Nissan southbound at 5:30 a.m. when she lost control.

Her car careened off the roadway, crossed a field, crashed into a dirt ditch, went airborne and flipped, the CHP said.

Gutierrez was partially ejected through a window and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said they are not sure how fast Gutierrez had been driving, or why she lost control. Alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash, the CHP said.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
