Erie, PA : A Girard woman was arraigned on charges in a crash on Sunday, June 11, 2017
A Girard woman was arraigned Sunday on charges in a crash in downtown Erie that injured a pedestrian early that morning.
Yarelis I. Hernandez Burgos, 26, was placed in the Erie County Prison on 10 percent of $25,000 bond following her arraignment by Erie 5th Ward District Judge Paul Bizzarro on Sunday afternoon on charges of aggravated assault by motor vehicle while driving under the influence, accidents involving death or personal injury, DUI, reckless driving and two other summary traffic violations.
Erie police charge that Hernandez Burgos was traveling south on State Street with no headlights on at about 1:50 a.m. Sunday when she struck a male pedestrian at North Park Row. Witnesses told police that Hernandez Burgos failed to stop at a red light on State Street when the crash occurred, and she did not stop after the crash, according to information in the criminal complaint. Police said they eventually located Hernandez Burgos in the 1200 block of Sassafras Street.
The man who was hit was taken to UPMC Hamot for treatment. He was listed in fair condition Sunday afternoon.
