Phoenix, A : 1 critically injured in 4-vehicle crash near 48th Street and Southern Avenue on Tuesday, 4th February, 2020

One man was critically injured Tuesday after a four-vehicle crash in Phoenix, officials said.

The Phoenix Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Mercedes Fortune said in a statement that the crash occurred at around 4:30 p.m. near 48th Street and Southern Avenue.

"A vehicle making a left turn from a private business collided with a vehicle traveling East on Southern Avenue approaching 48th Street," Fortune said in the statement. "The impact of that collision caused one of the vehicles to collide with two additional vehicles which were traveling westbound on Southern Avenue from 48th Street."

One man had critical injuries after the crash, the Phoenix Fire Department said. Details about the man's identity were not immediately provided by police.

At least one other person was injured but "all other injuries are serious but not life-threatening," the statement said.
